Long forgotten - recently found
2023-10-20 - Bunkers, Abandoned

Some things are meant to be forgotten, some to be recovered...

Quite some time ago a good colleague of ours told a story about a bunker that once stood under an administrative building in Soviet times, immediately we took action. Perhaps it was only the building that was demolished? Was the bunker intact?

Our search didn't take long before we uncovered the only point of entry - the evacuation tunnel hidden by a manhole cover.

And so our journey begins, crawling through the evacuation tunnel:

Looking back at the point of entry

Thrilled by our success, we move forward and open the doors of doom.

Despite the rust, they opened with ease

Well, it appears not much is left, whatever was, probably got destroyed by the water...

Good thing we came ready with long boots.

Water depth was around 0,4m

Despite the water, we venture forward:

Air filtration systems

What appears to be air filters.

The filters would be sufficient for 50-100 people

Let's take a look what hides behind the uncommon vault-like doors.

Personally - they look like they would belong on a ship

Some miscellaneous rooms and a bathroom, not much.

Probably the place where drainage pumps once stood

Looks like someone ate too much chili.

Moving on to the other side of the bunker:

The bigger doors, guard ventillation systems.

"It's all up to safety standards"

What could go wrong?

To wrap it all up, the reason for all the flooding. They put a drainage cover where the staircase once stood:

Minimum wage - minimum effort

Well, that was one of the more unique adventures out there, not everyday you find a bunker under a parking lot of a market.
